Below is an updated guide to the ideal and recommended image size for every image on six major social media platforms. What are pixels?
Pixels, shortened to "px" below, are picture elements. Pixels are combined to form an image, video, or display. The number of pixels in an image or display determines how the image looks, and more pixels in an image means it will be a higher resolution.
What's an aspect ratio?
The aspect ratio of an image is the ratio of its width to its height. For example, a square has a 1:1 aspect ratio.
Facebook image sizes
Cover photo: 820px wide by 312px tall
Profile image: 180px wide by 180px tall
Shared image: 1200px wide by 630px tall
Event image: 1920px wide by 1080px tall
Pinterest image sizes
Profile image: 165px wide by 165px tall
Cover image: must be at least 800 pixels wide x 450 pixels tall. Using a horizontal image with a 16:9 aspect ratio is recommended.
Pin sizes: Pinterest recommends a 2:3 ratio. Uploading an image that is 1,000px wide by 1,500px tall is a good size with a 2:3 ratio, but pins can be taller. Pins on the main page or on a board are sized to 236px wide.
Instagram image sizes
Profile image: 110px wide by 110px tall
Post photo size: 1080px wide by 1080px tall
Story size: 9:16 ratio, 1080px wide by 1920px tall
Twitter image sizes
Header photo: 1500px wide by 500px tall
Profile image: 400px wide by 400px tall
In-feed photo: 2:1 ratio, 440px wide by 220px tall
YouTube image sizes
Video uploads: 16:9 aspect ratio, 1280px wide by 720px tall (minimum to qualify for HD)
Channel cover photo: 2560px wide by 1440px tall
Channel profile image: 800px wide by 800px tall
Profile or business logo image: 300px wide by 300px tall
Personal page cover image: 1584px wide by 396px tall
Company cover image: 1192px wide by 220px tall
Shared image: 1200px wide by 627px tall
